About Sunshine State Holiday

A sunny corner of the internet for people who like their holidays warm, their afternoons long, and their travel advice free of hype.

Sunshine State Holiday started as a folder of notes and photos from too many trips up and down the rivers and islands of Southeast Asia. Somewhere between the third sunset cruise and the umpteenth plate of mango sticky rice, it turned into this: a small, friendly travel blog about the sunny escapes we keep going back to.

We write about the things that actually make a warm-weather holiday good. Where to sit for a long riverside lunch. Which floating market is worth the early alarm. How to island-hop without turning it into a route march. Where to stay so the rest of the trip falls into place. No sponsored gush, no impossible bucket lists, just honest, easy-going advice from people who would rather be in a hammock.

Who writes it

Most of what you read here is written by Daniel, who has spent a good chunk of the last few years working out the slow way to travel Thailand and Bali and reporting back. The tone is deliberately unhurried, because that is how the best holidays feel, and we think the writing should feel that way too.

Got a tip, a correction, or a favourite riverside spot we should know about? We would genuinely love to hear it. Drop us a line at [email protected] and we will write back.
